Prose and Ida
I am an English and Literature teacher at a Secondary School in Australia. I love books and reading, in particular the ability to lose myself in a narrative. I am currently attempting to add to my library and cannot resist buying a book if I happen to wander past a bookshop.
I also love writing and am currently working on my manuscript for a Romance novel. In addition to this, I am writing short stories whenever life inspires me. The pleasure I retain from reading is what drives me to continue to write – to provide that same sense of fulfilment and connection which other writers have bestowed to me through words. It is my need to capture those rich life experiences that has me picking up the pen, or tapping on the keyboard at insane times of the night and day.
In addition to my love of words is my desire for Tango. I have been dancing the Argentine Tango for two years and it is safe to say that I am addicted. I hope to travel to Buenos Aires to continue to develop my ability to follow and perhaps even learn to lead. I have been very fortunate to be taught this beautiful dance by a range of teachers whose skill and love for Tango makes every lesson a pleasure. Completing choreographed performances last year was a huge highlight for me and I hope to continue to do so under the watchful eye of my instructor this year.
Music is not only the ‘food of love’ but of life and without it I wouldn’t be the person I am today – it has the power to soothe and excite but to mostly connect people. I am generally always listening to a piece of music and it dictates what I write in many ways.
My friends and family are very important to me and I hope that I can live life giving joy and finding moments of peace in the busiest of days; those are the ones that are at times the most overlooked.
